Ohhhhh Benny !

Last weekend Tim and I were in a Konstant Kraving...Now I want My Satisfaction, My Satisfaction!

I know this post is kind of late, but I just remembered that Mr. Satisfaction himself, superstar DJ Benny Benassi is going to be throwing down the grove tonight at Karma.  Last Friday Tim and I had a blast, and the space was awesome!  The dance floor buts right up against the DJ stand, so you can get up close and personal to the MAN tonight!  Check it out bois.

Konstant Kraving!

Flyersm You all being  savy gadget/electronic guru type people know all about placeshift, right?  Sling Box (not talking about the cage in the back of the leather bar) where you can TiVo at home and watch it on the road.  Well, last night we felt as if we were "placeshifted" to somewhere other than Minne, like NYC or LA.  Krave is the new once a month gay dance party at an otherwise straight club.  It had everything that your typical gay bar in Minne doesn't...  lots of cute gay boys (that you've never seen before), cute drag queens selling fruity shooters, hot buff bartenders in black tanks, cute cocktail servers and Kimberly S a hot DJ from LA spinning all night!Kimberly4_2   So, mark your calenders for April 19, May 19 & June 16 and make sure to Kum with a Kraving!  kraving love, timmy

True Colors

OK...  a new album, AND a new Broadway show for the 80's queen of unusual Cyndi Lauper!  That's right, Girls are still wanting to have fun and this 50 something girl is still having fun, Time after Time.

Laupercyndibody2005 The Body Acoustic is Cyndi's latest album.  The album features two new songs and 10 of her hits (five of which are from her debut), sung and performed in collaboration with such big name artists as Sarah McLachlan, Jeff Beck and Ani DiFranco. The arrangements, as the title suggests, are largely acoustic, sometimes featuring a full backing band and other times merely Cyndi and guitar, making this stripped down, best-of a great listen and a commendable, inventive approach.

And On Brodway... Pop star Cyndi Lauper has replaced Edie Falco as Jenny in the cast of the Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming production of The Threepenny Opera, scheduled to run March 24-June 11 at Studio 54 in NYC.

Base_image For those of you that were as fortunate as I to see her either open for Cher at the Target Center, headline at the Twin Cities gay pride block party or rock the grandstand at the Minnesota State Fair you know that She Bops to a different drum, but is as entertaining as ever!  Those of you that maybe don't like her, you need to see her in concert.  You'll have a Change of Heart.  So...  if she comes back to Minneapolis, although Money Changes Everything, I'll always pay it to see Cyndi!  love, the not so unusual tim

Dance of the Fairy

Nutcracker_3No, this is not a picture of me on a Saturday night at the Gay 90's.  And I am not the aforementioned dancing  fairy.  I'm talking about Minnesota Dance Theatre's production of Loyce Holton's Nutcracker Fantasy, and the dancing fairy is the Sugarplum Fairy.  The Nutcracker Fantasy is a sentimental favorite of mine.  This is a little known fact, but yours truly played the role of Mother Ginger in the LaCrosse Dance Company's production of the Nutcracker Fantasy for 2 years running.  And by running, I mean running away from the eight bratty 8 yr olds that that had to hide under my skirt and would pull down my bloomers, pull on my leg hair and untie my shoes!!!  Boy I miss those days...

But you can't miss this production!  As they say "It's The Big One," and I know that you're all after that!  It's at the Historic State Theatre December 16-19, 2005.  Something else you can't miss...  photos of me as Mother Ginger (coming soon)!   love, another big one - Tim
