Careful.... this is a story about baseball, America's favorite pastime! Yes, gay boys in Minneapolis do go to Minnesota Twins games. (It does help that Joe Mauer is incredibly easy on the eyes!)
But beyond that, the $16 (and that's not even the cheapest) ticket price is well worth it! Let me give you some tips to help you make it through the 9 innings if you're not a baseball fan:
Tip #1 - (quite possibly the most important tip) For the first cocktail or 2, search out the fancy wine/beer vendors. Don't settle for the Michelob Golden Draft Light on tap (unless you're my straight friend Felicia). If you search hard enough you can find a glass of Chardonnay or Imported bottled beer! However, after the first couple you may want to settle for whatever choices Wally The Beerman is schlepping up and down the stadium steps.
Tip #2 - Enjoy your surroundings. You'll find plenty of cute straight boys (and even a couple stray gay men) to keep you occupied between innings. If you sit in the Homerun Porch near section 140 you may also have the pleasure of experiencing the Twins Guest Service rep proudly giving the "thumbs up" after she successfully kicks out all persons without a ticket sitting in the empty section next to us (I think I watched her more than the actual game).
Tip #3 - When it comes time for the Seventh Inning Stretch, stand up! Remember, in the Metrodome you don't have to worry about what others are thinking about you. You learned the words long ago, so sing loudly. "Take me out to the ballgame, take me out to get drunk (or something like that)..."
Tip #4 - To avoid traffic after the game, plan on stopping in at the Minneapolis Eagle or on your way back to the car. Who know's you just might encounter one of their great drink specials like the $8.00 beer bust on Sundays from 4-8pm.
So, the next time that you are sitting wondering what to do, take a look to see if the Minnesota Twins are in town. I hope this blog will help conjure up pleasant thoughts of Dome Dogs, Ball Boys, Pitchers, Catchers and of course Wally the Beerman! Now, everyone sing it with me in Falsetto "Take Me Out To The Ballgame..." - love mighty tim at bat
